Senator Cruz Supports FAA Nominee

He says independent leadership is needed to ensure safety in the industry.

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas recently expressed his support of President Joe Biden’s nominee Michael Whitaker as head of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Senator Cruz is the ranking member of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee.

“The FAA is in desperate need of independent leadership willing to challenge the status quo,” said Senator Cruz. He said Mr. Whitaker “has expressly committed to focus on the FAA’s primary responsibility, which is ensuring the safety of our national aerospace.”

Whitaker is currently the chief commercial officer for Supernal, Hyundai’s electric air taxi company. The FAA has gone without a permanent administrator for 18 months, leaving a gap in leadership in an industry experiencing staffing shortages and increasing air traffic mishaps.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of the Senate committee as they conduct the review of the FAA nominee.
  • For wisdom for the senators as they prepare for full confirmation votes for the president’s appointees.
  • For FAA officials as they await a confirmed administrator to head the agency.
